Is it possible to slip into someone else's subconscious?

I'm writing a book and the main character has the ability to slip inside someone else's subconscious and read their thoughts and ume their actions (kind of like Rose and Lissa in Vampire Academy) as a result of medical experimentation. I was just wondering if there was any possibility of it actually happening in real life or is there any studies similiar to it?
